This past Sunday, we held our garage sale and free vegan BBQ fundraiser. It was a huge success! We raised over $1,770! This event was so much fun and so successful that we decided to make it an annual (or even semi-annual) event. The sense of community and generosity was amazing, and completely encompassed what Cupid’s Landing is about. Almost everything we sold was on a donation basis – we told people to gather up everything they want and make us an offer. Alternatively, we handed out boxes and told people to fill ’em up for $10-$20 (depending on the size of the box.)
We had tables set up where complete strangers (many who were not vegan) sat down and enjoyed a meal together before, during, or after they did some shopping. Everything about the day was happy and upbeat. Listening to everyone talk about Cupid’s Landing – hearing the enthusiasm in their voices – whether they were learning about it for the first time or talking about it to someone they had just met, was incredibly motivating and heartwarming. It made the project feel real and alive. I am sending the biggest of thank you’s to everyone who contributed! Those who donated items, spent hours helping out, or purchased items and donated money, you ALL made it happen! Thank you!
Moving forward, we’ve got some really exciting plans in the works! Next up is the free vegan cooking demo on August 18th. We will be demoing how to make the mystifying BBQ jackfruit! There is no charge to attend. Donations will be accepted towards Cupid’s Landing. Check out this post for the details, and contact me with any questions.
A sneak-peek of an upcoming post – Today I met with the lovely Cadry Nelson from www.cadryskitchen.com . Pictures and details to come soon!
